To facilitate more interaction and information sharing among association executives, CEO Update has launched two new peer networking groups this month—one for chief operating officers and another for chief communications officers.

These groups—the Chief Operations Officers Forum (COO Forum) and Chief Communications Officers Forum (CCO Forum)—are new CEO Update membership levels and include the benefits afforded to premium CEO Update members, with the addition of semiannual networking meetings in the Washington, D.C., area.

These half-day meetings aim to foster an environment in which association executives can learn from one another, share information and best practices, as well as acquire position-specific professional development to achieve their organization's mission and goals.

In order to bring together members with similar backgrounds and organizational challenges, each Forum membership is open to COOs or chief communications executives of trade groups and professional societies with annual revenue of more than $20 million. CEO Update is limiting membership in the new groups to just 35 executives.

CEO Update Publisher Mark French said the new Forums build on last year's successful launch of two new peer-networking groups for CEOs.

"We hear from association leaders repeatedly that what they value most are the opportunities to learn from one another, compare notes, benchmark, and hear from subject matter experts on topics critical to effective association leadership. The new Forums are intended to provide the networking and educational opportunities to help these leaders more effectively manage the organizations they lead," French said.

Forum membership includes:

  • Invitation to semiannual meetings
  • Registration and premier seating at all CEO Update LIVE events
  • Print subscription and online access to CEO Update
  • Access to the AssociationIntelligence database

To help guide the formation of these new peer groups, CEO Update has organized steering committees composed of prominent COOs and communications executives in associations.

The steering committee for the COO Forum includes: Elisabeth Barna, American Trucking Associations; Joe Cowden, National Automobile Dealers Association; Peter Gallary, Investment Company Institute; Jeff Glenzer, Association for Financial Professionals; Terry Jorde, Independent Community Bankers of America; Eric Hoplin, Financial Services Roundtable; and Lori Traweek, American Gas Association.

The steering committee for the CCO Forum includes: Peter Cook, American Bankers Association; Jessica Hanson Hanna, Property Casualty Insurers Association of America; Mike McNamee, Investment Company Institute; Patricia Reilly, Association of American Railroads; Erin Streeter, National Association of Manufacturers; Bill Thorne, National Retail Federation; and Katherine Trinidad, American Council of Life Insurers.
